Fat Tested Travel Blog/Grinchmas at Universal Orlando 2026: Is It Included?

Grinchmas is Universal Orlando's Dr. Seuss holiday celebration in Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure. For 2026 it runs November 14, 2026 through January 3, 2027, and it is included with a regular theme park ticket or annual pass, subject to Universal's blockout dates. The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast and the Universal Holiday Tour cost extra.

That is the short version. Here is what you actually get, what you pay extra for, and how I would plan a Grinchmas day.

What Grinchmas is

Grinchmas is one piece of Universal's larger holiday season. Seuss Landing gets decked out with Who-ville style decorations, the Whos wander the land, and the Grinch himself shows up to cause trouble. The anchor is a live stage show, the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, a retelling of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with live music and characters like Cindy Lou Who and Max.

It all happens inside Islands of Adventure. That matters for your ticket. If you buy a one-park-per-day ticket, make sure Islands of Adventure is the park you pick for your Grinchmas day. A park-to-park ticket lets you see Grinchmas and then hop to Universal Studios Florida for the holiday parade at night.

Is Grinchmas included with admission?

Yes. Universal lists the holiday celebration as included with your theme park ticket or annual/seasonal pass, with blockout dates and restrictions applying to some passes. You do not need a separate event ticket the way you would for a hard-ticket party.

What is included:

  • The Seuss Landing decorations and holiday atmosphere
  • The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular stage show
  • Roaming Whos and Grinch appearances around the land
  • The standard Grinch meet and greet line, when it is running

What costs extra:

  • The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast
  • The Universal Holiday Tour
  • Food, drinks and holiday merchandise

The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular

This is the main event. The show runs multiple times a day. Reports on the 2026 schedule put showtimes between about 10:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and in past years the show has run around 30 minutes. Universal posts the official daily times in the Universal Orlando app, and times can change, so check the app the morning you go.

My advice: do not try to catch the first show and the last show. The middle-of-the-day shows tend to draw the biggest crowds from guests who wander over after lunch. An early show or one of the late-afternoon shows usually means a shorter wait to get in and an easier walk out.

If you use a wheelchair or scooter, ask the show attendant for accessible seating when you arrive. Get there with time to spare, because accessible spots are limited and fill up for busy shows. If long sitting or standing is hard on your body, plan one show and spend the rest of your time on rides and breaks.

Meeting the Grinch

The free Grinch meet and greet is famous for long lines. A late-October 2026 report noted guests reporting waits of three hours or longer in recent seasons. For a lot of families that is a full morning of a park day gone.

If meeting the Grinch is the main reason you are going, you have two paid shortcuts:

  • Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast. Held at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous in Seuss Landing. Universal's current listing shows $64.99 for adults and $38.99 for kids, plus tax, with an automatic 20% gratuity included. You pick one plated entree and get a non-alcoholic drink and specialty treats. Capacity is limited, and you need separate Islands of Adventure admission for the same date.
  • Universal Holiday Tour. A guided daytime tour of about 2.5 hours with up to 12 guests per tour. It includes meet and greets with the Grinch, Max and Santa, reserved seating for the Who-liday Spectacular, and an optional reserved parade viewing area. Universal says pricing varies by date and park admission is not included. Reservations are required.

Prices are as of late 2026 and can change. Book the breakfast as early as you can. It sells out on popular dates.

I go deeper on the Grinch meet and greet, the breakfast and line strategy in a separate post.

Grinchmas for plus-size guests and guests with mobility needs

Grinchmas is a low-stress holiday event for larger bodies. Most of it is walking around, watching and taking photos. There is no ride you have to fit into to enjoy it.

A few things I tell people:

  • The meet and greet line is the hard part. Hours of standing on pavement is rough on knees, feet and backs. If that is you, the breakfast is worth considering just for the seated meet.
  • Breakfast seating. Restaurant chairs are standard restaurant chairs. If you would be more comfortable at a table with an armless chair or more room, ask when you check in. Asking is normal.
  • Seuss Landing rides. The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish and the Caro-Seuss-el are right there. Ride fit varies. Check Fit Finder before you go so you know what to expect: https://app.fattestedtravel.com.
  • Crowds. The land is compact, and on busy holiday days the walkways get packed around showtimes. If you use a scooter, plan your route around show start and end times.

Other holiday fun at Universal while you are there

Grinchmas is the Seuss piece. The rest of the season is worth knowing about too:

  • Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's at Universal Studios Florida, with giant balloons and floats featuring Minions, Shrek and Madagascar characters. Included with admission.
  • Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter across all three Wizarding World areas: Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic area at Epic Universe. The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle projection show runs after dark in Hogsmeade.
  • Epic Universe holiday decor. 2026 is the first year SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk get holiday decorations.

I cover how to plan a full Universal holiday visit in a separate post.

When to go

The busiest stretch is Christmas week through New Year's. If your dates are flexible, the weeks after Thanksgiving and before mid-December are usually calmer. Weekdays beat weekends. If you are coming Christmas week, arrive at opening, catch an early Who-liday show, and do the Grinch line, if you do it at all, before the park fills up.

Quick answers

What are the Grinchmas 2026 dates?
